Spent compost. I am in the process of changing my summer bedding in pots to winter bedding. The compost was newly put in a couple of months ago, looking at it now it seems ok having taking out the plants and root clumps. Do I need to change compost or can I add something to it to nourish the winter bedding plants? Many thanks.

Agree with the above..no need to change it,just give it a boost ,but check it for white vine weevil grubs first..If I've used new compost,I still use it the following summer,if it's clean.and just top it up with new,for the summer bedding again..only the second year,do I put it in the compost,or spread on borders..never had a problem..

As long as there were no pathogens or soil pests, then add some Slow release pellets and it should be ok.
I have just potted up a dozen clumps of Crocosmia from a bed I am trying to clean in compost like that.
