Be careful, with those markings and the ability to jump it probably bites too!

I have Googled that info and found nothing in the UK that resembles your description, perhaps you should jam jar it and contact your local zoo. Jim.???

Hi Lucy - How big is "big" exactly? what colour was the rest of the spider?
There are over 5000 species of Jumping Spider - they are the most common family of spiders in fact, so it's not going to be possible to ID yours without a more detailed description I'm afraid.

The Salticidae (Jumping Spiders) are a bit of an interest to me and have been for many years. Don't suppose you could post a picture could you?

Not sure which species yet but came across this great photo of a North American Phidippus audax species. Worth a look!

if you dont live near a dock or a banana factory or something like that i shouldnt worry about it though every spider on the planet is poisonas . just not enough for us to notice or not bog enough teeth or enough venom to effect us in this country . id like to see it myself . i like spiders .
