Some of my potato plants have, what looks like, green tomatoes growing on the foliage. What is this? Is this a problem and if so how do I solve it?

They are the seedpods, do as Hoya says and remove them ,but it is not really neccessary.

These are the fruits developed from the flowers! I have got them too - you can remove them to retain energy in the plants - but remember they are poisonous!
