If they're in pots, they might need a feed in spring and how often you repeat that depends on the formulation of the fertilizer you're using - some last for 6 weeks in the soil.
In the ground, a single feed with a granular fertiliser in spring is all that's necessary, and even that isn't essential if your soil is good and/or you mulch with organic, humus rich materials.
