Start by taking out all the buttercups and see what's left, don't let the foxgloves go to seed, You may well find your original plants are still there under the weeds.
The plant with wavy edged leaves to the right of the photo looks rather like Ragwort. Unless its something you've planted it would be best disposed of, and mind the sap, its not good for you!

Looks a bit congested. Just do a bit of weeding to get some air around your perennials, lay in some decorative mulch after you trim your plants and I think that's all you need to do for now.
