Rose choice for arch. We have just installed a sturdy wooden arch over a pathway in the rear garden. It will get sun for most of the day. I would like to plant a rose each side with intertwining clematis. I am looking for some suggestions please for a rose that has a long flowering period with scent and minimal thorns. Any colour at the moment as no planting either side yet. There will be trellis at the side where I am hoping to put in Apple espaliers but that's a question for another day.

I have Zephrine Drouhin on one side of mine and then climbing iceberg up the other. the ZD is thornless, [Barbie pink] and has a typical rose fragrance.
iceberg is white and has some thorns but not overly thorny. some fragarance too.

Thanks. Will look at suggestions. I did wonder whether to grow different roses on either side.

« Can someone tell me the name of this orange perennial flower?
Laura Ford is a long-flowering yellow climbing rose - gorgeous scent but it does have some thorns though.
