I've never noticed this before but it may be due to my memory - or the lack of it.
My 7 ft tall apple tree was loaded once again this year but there were many more on the sunny side and these were much larger and ready quicker than those on the other.
I guess I need to do a lot more pruning next year ?

Thanks S, I'll put it rght next year. Actually most of them are now going red, . And I'll no doubt end up with well over 100 apples.

« Why do all my cherries fall off tree before they are ripe enough to pick
well the more light the apples get the more they will grow. so the south side naturally gets bigger fruit. the same is true for my tree and for the gooseberries too.
