Hello every one. In spring we bought and planted a rhododendron president rousevelte with varigated leaves. The leaves on one of the branches has started to revert to all green. its only about 12" high. Should i cut out the the branch, which would take a third off the plant or if i leave it alone will ithe whole plant revert back to green. All advice appreciated. Thank you.

Mmm! after having a long think i have decided to cut the green branch off even thou it means decreasing the size of the plant. Just needed some one to motivate me, Thank you Spritzhenry.

Strange that the branch "just started" to revert, but now covers 1/3 of the whole plant! Usually the leaves on a reverted branch grow in green, and don't suddenly turn green after they have been expanded.

Thats probably what has happened tugbrethil. Only i havn't been taking as much notice as i should have due to ill health. Well, lets see what happens after i have cut the branch off.

Been there, done that, Rohima, especially earlier this summer when I broke my knee (!!). Too easy to lose track!

Still on the mend. I just got out of the brace last week, which the doctor says is good time for that type of break. Broke it May 21st, and had surgery June 1st. As you can imagine, it's been making gardening really hard! Only the pots have been getting the attention they need.

Next question
Any variegated plant that starts to revert needs to have the all-green shoots removed, or, as you rightly say, it will eventually lose the variegation. Up to you now, I'm afraid, Rohima...
