Can I take cuttings of box hedge now or should I wait until the autumn? I have several box balls about four- five feet high and in diameter which need clipping so would be able to try both now and later in the year.

I find box roots very easily at any time of year. I use the cuttings taken when trimming. Pop them in compost around the edge of a pot. They will be ready to pot on when you see the roots coming out of the holes in the pot base.
