Is it too early to plant up my windowboxes with spring bulbs and what type of compost should I use for bulbs.

Hi Sid - so disappointed with boxes this year just want to strip them down.

It's a bit early, Sadie - if the autumn and winter were mild you would get them shooting away then a late frost would burn the leaf tips and possibly even harm the flower buds! Be patient a bit longer. I know just what you mean, though! My double Petunias are a soggy mess. UGH!

Hi Sadie - i usually leave it until about late September/early October, which is when all the garden centres are flogging bulbs like mad! Re the compost, you can buy bulb compost, but I've always used multi-purpose, which seems to do the job just fine. hope this helps.
