Just googled it and discovered this, is it really one to be avoided? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2693783/Deadly-British-plant-thought-extinct-discovered-lighthouse-Public-warned-not-touch-corn-cockle-kill.html

That's worrying. I bought a wild flower seed mixture a few years ago and this was in it. It's a very pretty flower though.

Don't worry about it, lots of garden plants are poisonous - are you really going to eat them? Teach children not to eat anything without asking first.

There was a big Ho ha about it when it was found included in wild flower seeds given away free and it turned out to be just more fear mongering by the tabloids. I agree with Landgirl to always make sure small children know what's poisonous as they grow up.

I agree :-)

I try always to have a few of these for the simple reasons that they are pretty, grow easily from seed, are tolerant and extinct in the wild since weed killers were used in cereal crops.. As for them being poisonous, you surely aren't going t eat them?
As Landgirls says lots of common garden plants are poisonous. So is bleach but I bet you have it in your kitchen...
