Leylandi......planted approx 4 foot from my house. I cut it back every summer, its been there around 7/8 years. Its about 10 feet tall 6 feet wide. Would it be best to remove it? Its not causing me any problems I am more concerned as I have seen on TV the damage they can do structurally. Thank You.

If you like it, then keep it. I personally don't care for them - they take up a great deal of space. Their weak branches break in high winds and snow load giving them a mangy appearance.

Planted that close to the house yes, I would remove, unless you are using a screening to prevent seeing something unattractive. You can always replace with something more attractive, provided when you do have removed the roots are also extracted and then lots of compost added to the soil which will be rather impoverished.

I would get rid of it now. They have one single centre root and the rest all spread out from just below ground level. This tree is too near your foundations.

I had my massive conifers taken out three years ago and replanted with a wild life hedge. The best thing I ever did! The light it lets in now is great and the area is not as dry as it used to be. They were originally planted there to provide a screen for privacy but the hedge is doing just the same only with a variety of foliage and benefits to wildlife.

Much too close to the house. Get rid and plant something smaller.

How do I say thanks?
