I have salvia hot lips that are starting to get straggly now. Should i cut them back and if so how far back? All advice most appreciated.Thank you.

I wouldn't do it now, Rohima. They're not reliably hardy plants, so wait until spring when new shoots should appear, then you can trim it back to them. I was really pleased that my shrubby Salvias responded so well to this treatment.

Would you take them now, June?

Have got one of these at the bowling green. In three years it has grown five times the size. I agree Spritz, and visitors are taking cutting from ours now, soft tissue, so I presume this is the time.

My plant came through last winters weather but will take some cuttings too just to be on the safe side. Thank you all.
