How do I stop mice from eating all my beetroot. They seem to hollow out the flesh and leave the shell.

Answers

Vacuum Cleaner fluff. I empty my vacuum cleaner into my vegetable bed and spread it around. The scent of humans & predators is a good repellent - it's also free fertilizer.

Try, when sowing your seed, a light sprinkle of Naphthalene (crushed mothballs) in the soil around the seed. Otherwise, Obas Oil on small pieces of rag.

Using mothballs in gardens also causes significant environmental problems. They usually contain either naphthalene or paradichlorobenzene. Both of these chemicals are highly toxic and can get into the soil and groundwater. These mothball hazards may even harm the plants you are trying to protect.
