Hi. Can anyone help with id of this plant growing on Corfu. I recognise it but just cannot remember what it is. Many thanks for any help.

That's gorgeous whatever it is! Look at that contrast.

Nearly right, Seaburngirl - I reckon its Columnea microphylla, the leaves look like that.

Sorry, Bamboo, it is Cape Honeysuckle (Tecoma [Tecomaria] capensis), a close relative of Trumpet Creeper. It is one of our main landscape plants here in the desert, evergreen and blooming September to April.

Don't be sorry, Tug, thanks for the ID.. I shall look it up now, but I'm betting it won't grow here except possibly as an annual.
hmm, having looked, the leaves don't seem quite right, they look a bit larger than those in the photo above, but I'll take your word for it because of its growth habit.

You got it Tugbrethil! Good call. It's definitely a Cape Honeysuckle. It also goes by the name, Tecoma Capensis, native from South Africa. No wonder it grows in the desert. I already have the trumpet honeysuckle which is still in bloom now as I type this. :)

It would most likely only work in a heated greenhouse in the UK, Bamboo.
Trumpet Honeysuckle still in bloom now, Bathgate? Wow! I guess global warming marches on! :/

Yep, afraid so Tugbrethil - listed as H1c with the RHS for hardiness, so not hardy at all then, really!

« What type of grass/plant is this? - This was found up in Scotland.
Columnea gloriosa the goldfish plant comes to mind but I may well be wrong.
