Buddleja
I'm confused over when to prune. I dead headed the first flush in the summer and it bloomed again in early autumn. i haven't got around to dead heading again but could it be done now? And when would be the best time to cut it back as it's getting too big? Thank you.

Buddleia are pruned in spring, normally around March time, take old growth down to about a foot.

Agree with Moongrower - best to wait for the warmer weather. It will soon put on plenty of new growth without a problem.

Agree, hard prune in March, so long as its not Buddleia alternifolia - that one needs pruning immediately after flowering.

I would cut it down to around four foot now then cut it back as suggested by Mg. The reason for cutting twice is to stop wind rock in the winter.

Thank you all for this advice and thanks for the tip about alternifolia, Bamboo, which I am hoping to get.

How do I say thanks?
