Can somebody ID this tree? I love its purple leaves and droopy growth habit. I'd like to get one for my property but need to do a little research first. But who can tell me what tree this is?

I was going to say weeping copper beech, but think that's the same thing minus the variety name...

I thought weeping copper beech too. Find a pic on the net and compare. Hope you've got a big garden!

You hit the nail on the head. It's a purple beech..or copper. But I can move on with my research. I doubt I have space for it. Thanks all!

Maybe a 'Ruby Tears' Weeping Crabapple, instead, Bathgate?

Thanks Tug, I see the similarity, but I pulled up pictures of both on Google, and copper beech is a dead match.

I'm sorry for not being more specific, Bathgate! I was suggesting the crabapple as a smaller substitute.

LOL oh I got ya! Thanks! I'll check it out. That's a nice tree too. This one has that 'Dr. Seuss' look.

Bit hard to tell without being able to see the leaves clearly. However, have a look at Fagus sylvatica Dawick Purple.
