Fallen apples. I am still experiencing a lot of fallen apples, I am picking up around 15 -20 unripe apples on a daily basis. Could this be due to drought? Can I let the fallen apples ripen in the sun or are they just to early to ripen up? I have a bramley cooking and one unnamed eating apple tree. Many thanks.

We are still getting windfalls. On close examination most of them are victims of codlin moth, the others knocked off by pigeons. Wormed ones should be removed as they soon begin to go mouldy which can spread to the fruit in the trees. Sadly once they are on the floor, all that will happen is that the fruit will begin to rot. We collect ours and take it down to the pigs along the lane.
