I have seed heads on my Agapanthus which I intend collecting when they are ripe, and will try to germinate them next Spring. Do they really take two to three years before they flower?!

Hi, yes unfortunately they do, you can either sow them as soon as they're ripe, or wait until spring, put the seed trays in a propagator at 55-59f, and keep the seedlings in a cold frame for the first winter, and they should flower in 2-3 years, however most seeds grown from the garden, don't come true, so if you want the exact same plants, it may be better to divide in spring, on the other hand, you may be lucky and get a better looking plant, the only trouble is that you'll have to wait a while to find out, but might be worth it, or you could do both, Derek.

Thanks Owdboggy, I’ll just need to be as patient as you.
Thanks for the advice, Derek. I reckon I’ll give the seeds a try and see what happens.

And if you sow every year, then eventually you will have new ones coming into flower every year.
