Many years ago I grew some chillis but don’t remember how I did it. ( memory like a sieve ). A friend just gave me 2 small plantpots in which there were 3 or 4 very small chillies, saying she’d lost the directions for growing. I’ve no idea what sort of chillis they are. Can someone please assist.

I can't tell you what type of peppers they are. They look just like mine. When the plants grow to about 10 inches high, snip off the growing tip. This will cause the plants to branch out and produce more peppers. Plant them in the ground if you can. Treat them exactly like tomatoes.

I'd second all that BG said but in Cheshire I'd grow them in pots (they need separating into individual 4inch pots now btw) & pinch out the growing tips at 4 inches .
They can also get badly infested by aphids when young which really hurts them so hardening off asap is a good idea even if it's just putting them out in a sheltered spot on mild days & bringing them in at night.
The reason I say use pots is that in England we've got a relatively short growing season but in warmer climes they're perennials. Our Winter weather will kill them but if you bring them in & have a bright windowsill they may well continue fruiting. I've had jalapeños at Xmas.
When bringing them in you should be really attentive to cleanliness, trim off any unhealthy bits & apply a good, thick gravel mulch against red spider mite. But the work pays off the following Summer when you can put out mature plants ready to give you a glut

Thanks guys, I live in Cheshire ( was that a guess Darren ?) but I’ll grow them in both.

That'd be a bloody good guess Hank! It's from the useful regional info you put up as part of your profile, I'm just a little further north in Manchester.
I'd be interested to know the types though, you may've mixed up the Hot & Mild labels?

No, the labels weren’t mixed up D, at least my friend got that bit right. She’s still searching for the packets but no joy as yet.

Just adds to the anticipation I guess Hank. They're pretty hard to tell apart until they fruit & even then one person's mild is another's hot

I love stuffed peppers with beef, rice, tomato & cheese. You can't go wrong.

I’m a poor cook B, but I’d make these if I had the recipe.
