Tips for keeping cut sweet peas fresh in a vase. I recently cut my first batch of sweet peas and put them in a little vase if water. I found that the flower petals started curling up and they looked in a sorry state after only a couple if days. Any advice for keeping them fresh for longer? Many thanks.

Agree with SBG, sweetpeas are very shortlived in a vase but just wonderful to fill the house with scent. The answer is to grow as many as you have room for and keep picking them! The stems get shorter with every picking so I use vases of diminishing size.

I have read online that heat from boiling water or even a flame on the cut ends works

fresh water every day and trim the last few mm off the stem each time you change the water. lucky if I get 4 days from them but they are heavenly when fresh.
