Hello everyone...I told my friend that my GOY gardeners would solve this problem...I thought it was an Acer, then it produced pink flowers followed by berries! I have enlarged the leaf and berry area.
Also I have to tell you that I have had to cut down my Campsis Radicans that flowered so well last year! as the dead tree it was climbing on had rotted at the base and collapsed. Ahh well that's gardening!

It looks like Sambucus nigra to me but the experts will know.

Thank you Thorneyside/ Bamboo /Seaburngirl.... I knew you would come up with an answer! that is exactly what it is ..but I never saw the flowers or the berries in real life which did make it more difficult to identify ...would you believe I have a (Sambucus Golden Elder) in my garden but it is a tall tree now....I used to cut it back each year to keep it small but to my knowledge it has never flowered or berried. So thanks again for answering my plea! my friend will be very pleased.
