Ceanothus,
I didn't prune my ceanothus after it flowered this spring and now it is in bloom again, although more sparsely. I don't want it to get too big, but neither do I want to lose next year's flowers. Could I prune it this autumn or should I wait until it has blossomed in spring, or what, please?

As its a late spring flowering one, you pruned at the right time, but according to the RHS, Ceanothus that flower in spring can be lightly trimmed in autumn. 'Lightly' is probably the important word!

I only just realised you said you didn't prune it this spring! but that's the time to prune it back a bit more.

Yes, thanks, Bamboo! I realised that's what you meant.
