Yes, I used to grow one with black foliage. Aster lateriflorus 'Lady in Black' They are lovely, but more suited to a prairie or wild style of gardening I think. :) There are several species with this little white flower in profusion. I'm not sure if Hywel's idea is a different plant altogether, or just a 'sister' or renamed type of Aster. Do you know Hywel?

Karen, Symphyotrichum lateriflorum is a synonym for Aster lateriflorus. I don't know which name is most commonly used. I tried it once but it didn't like my garden and died.

Thanks Hywel, as I suspected. Mine grew well enough, but it flowers very late. I didn’t like it much.

Thank you both. I quite liked it after seeing in situ at a plant nursery. But decided instead to get a more colourful Aster instead, name escapes me , as it’s poring in outside now don’t fancy having a look!
