I bought this plant about 4 years ago from a good garden
centre, followed the directions carefully and put in a large
pot. It overwintered in an outside greenhouse. It was put
back into its normal south facing place about three weeks
ago but now it is shedding leaves with some turning brown
at the ends, could you help with this please.

Is it Drimys lanceolata? or another variety? When you put it outdoors, did you just leave it there all the time, without hardening it off first? A photo might be useful ....

I does sound as if it has had a bit of a shock. from a warm sheltered environment to one where the temps fluctuate a lot and exposed to wind too. Are you watering it regularly?
as said a photo would help too.
