Is there a good rose variety to grow in a pot ... Shrub, climber, floribunda, anything will do.
(but I'm not keen on those small 'patio' roses)

Thanks, I like Rhapsody in Blue. I'll try to get one when I can get to a garden centre. They are supposed to be open in Wales soon.

My Golden Showers has been an absolute picture this year -- growing in a dustbin (with drainage holes) for at least ten years.

Thanks for the information, and I'm pleased to hear about your rose :)

Miniatures, the smaller shrubs, and most of the Floribundas are the easiest, though almost any rose will work if the tub is large enough--100 cm wide and 70 cm deep for Hybrid Teas, Grandifloras, and mid-sized shrubs. It might be hard to find a tub large enough to fit the larger climbers and shrubs.
