yes I will also say a cotoneaster, the flowers are tiny and loved by bees and then the berries are loved by birds. I have several in the garden.

I remembered this question whilst out in my garden today. My thoughts when it was first posted was the it could be Chaenomeles japonica, Flowering or Japanese Quince. I think that the fruits will have given it away. Perhaps look it up and see if you agree?
