Could someone identify this intruder? It is approx. 2ft tall and has deeply frilled leaves and has appeared in my Hampshire garden

Yes, Malva moschata alba (white mallow) one of the prettiest flowers in the garden. It makes masses of seed which I collect and scatter everywhere, but if you would rather not have it again next year, simply remove the seed heads and destroy them (or give them away).

Some years ago someone on here, and I'm sorry I forget who, said that planted with brassicas they discourage butterflies laying eggs. I tried it and it seemed to work.

Mallow/malva they are everywhere at the moment different colours see a lot by the side of the road they will self seed a lot in the garden.
