Hi,
I need to buy some sort of tall plants (6 ft plus) to put in large barrel-sized pots, in a yard, to act as a screen from neighbours. I had a spruce for many years but it grew too big for it’s barrel and eventually died.
I am over 80 so do not want to wait for a new sapling to grow but am willing to pay for something mature.
The yard faces south east and can be very windy.
Any advice?!

You can add a trellis to the barrel and grow some big leaf Ivy. Also I think the Emerald Green Euonymous would be a nice solid evergreen wall & easy to maintain with hand pruners.

Is bamboo an idea? You can buy it tall and it makes a good screen and sounds wonderful in the breeze. It won't spread if it is in tubs.
