Tradescantia, don't know the full name. I have never seen one flower before!

I used to grow this lovely one in the lab to show lack of starch and therefore no photosynthesis in the white bits.

My Nan had one in a pot on top of a kitchen cabinet, the old type of unit with the sliding glass doors at the top and the fold down table in the middle! Grandad always complained that the plant hung down just by the hook he hung his cap on. Good memories!

Oops Shirley we must have crossed! We used to have one on the half wall dividing kitchen from dining room. Wasn't as variegated and pretty as this one.

Wow, I have tradescantia growing wild in my garden, but it's all green with blue flowers. It's definitely not like this one. I can barely keep up with it. Never thought of adding it as a display plant. Thanks for the information. I guess that's how most plants start out - wild! Maybe this variety isn't so invasive.

This was one of the first indoor plants I had. I wonder what happened to it?

I have one that look likely to take over! It's so pretty though that I'm reluctant to cut any long stems off.

I let them grow wild along the west side of my house where nothing else grows. They provide flood and erosion control

Paul I might be wrong but I think the ones that grow in the garden are not the same variety as the houseplamt ones - somebody will know...

There are many types of tradescantia I'm sure. They come up in the spring, grow like wild fire and disappear with the frost. This cultivar is the product lots of tedious work. It's great for a temporary floral display that isn't intended to last It would make a stunning hanging basket, for a while.

I had one of these in a hanging basket in the 70s. I loved it and wouldn't mind another, though haven't seen one for years..

I sent a few seed pods to a member in the UK. Somebody actually wanted my weeds! Sure I got plenty! I never followed up though, but I will.

How do I say thanks?
