Hi all. What compost and slow release food is best for all my planters/oak barrels? Do I just remove some soil and top up with new? I have a mixture of plants inc acers.

if they still have plenty of root room I usually just scrape the top couple of inches off and replace with a soil based compost like John Innes No 3. for the Acer you would be better using an ericaceous compost. I use a granular slow release fertiliser but cant remember which brand. Only add a small amount as if you use too many you are just wasting it .
