I am in the process of terracing a slope. Rain is expected but I don't have the stackable stones for a retaining wall in place yet. Would covering the dirt with old sheets help keep the soil in place? or what can I do to save my work?

welcome to GoY.

Well that will help prevent the surface soil washing away. have you any wooded boards/planks that you could use as temporary retaning walls.?

Yes that would help for the time being. Those giant painter's tarps would be ideal. You can get them at The Home Depot or Lowes. Use bricks or stones to weigh them down.

Also make sure that water won't build up behind the steep slopes, or you could wind up with a mudslide.

How do I say thanks?
