Dry shade plant pot area. I’m hoping to create a (dry) shade area in pots where my old patio is. The photo attached is to give you any idea of what I’m hoping to create. I will be buying pots of different sizes to create an area with a path going through it. I’d like lots of texture from the plants, flowers are not so important. Pots will vary from large to medium and am looking for some interesting, unusual plants that would be happy in pots. Have already got hostas, hellebores, ferns, pachysandra, geranium phaem epimediums, sweet woodroofe. Any suggestions for some more unusual plants I could grow? Many thanks

Acer, dwarf lilac, Olive tree? Also Pieris would be lovely but it needs ericaceous compost.

Mahonias or Liriopes, maybe?

Epimedium. Some have beautiful coloured new foliage before the flowers appear if you remember to cut off the old leaves in late winter.

Deinanthe caerulea a relative of hydrangeas is less well known and is very pretty. I have it in mid shade in the eground but it would work in a pot.
Hepatica, Podophyllum, Tiarella, Arisaema and some of the ornamental Aums would also work.

Sorbaria sorbifolia sem, beautiful new growth colours and indestructible, it suckers but easy to remove.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Have looked them up and quite like the look of a Fatsia and a Deinanthe caerulea. These are quite architectural. First need to get some decent sized pots! I’m going to enjoy this!
