hi help. pls. i have an area of garden, which is 20 ft x 6 ft. presently has gravel, but been there 14 yrs very tatty, want to replace with bark, i only have 3 largish bay trees there, no other plants, will probably put a couple of pot conifers later on, which bark should i use, is it a good idea, as i want to make it look sort of woody, was going to replace with granite chippings, but quite like woody look. ideas please. thank you.

I think the bark chippings will look more 'natural'.
You may find local tree surgeons may be able to supply bark chippings cheaper than buying them by the bag at a gc. Aim for a depth of 2-4" for it to be a long lasting surface. Some builder's merchants also sell it so it is worth checking.
