Lonicera periclymenum (Honeysuckle vine) just received from online nursery. I was concerned the spots are canker but this is the response I received from them:

"Thanks for reaching out! The spots on your tree's/plant's leaves are merely a cosmetic blemish caused by excessive moisture and rain. Once your plant or tree is out in the open, the sun and wind will help to prevent this from occurring on new growth. Don't worry, it won't affect the overall health of the tree."

Thoughts?

That may be what it the retailer says it is. Are the darker areas oozing or swollen or splitting to show damage underneath?
As you have raised this as an issue with your retailer i would go ahead and plant your Lonicera. If it then fails to survive go back to them and ask for replacement/refund.

welcome to GoY too.

It looks much like Anthracnose fungus, which is common on plants cooped up in plastic for shipping, but usually goes away once they are in the open air. Exceptionally wet weather, or excessive wetting of the foliage, may keep it going, though, and require the use of a fungicide.
