Just checking to see if everyone is ok after the stormy weather, I'm ok but my Mimosa was taking a Battering in the 70 to 90mph winds, I thought it was going to snap the main thin trunk at any time in the strong winds as it was getting thrown all over the place poor thing, people around us had fencing blown down, down the bottom of our garden the ajoining neighbours fence was down, tiles flying off the roof on a new roof on a bungalow that had just been finished, a lot of damage all around in Essex :o((
Let me know how you all got on.

Thanks you for checking and glad you are unscathed. I guess we are too though the old [25yrs ] old fence at the bottom of the garden is leaning at a rakish angle.

The house at the bottom of the street has lost 1/3 of its roof and their neighbour a couple of roof tiles. The large conifer by the church is down, well they might take the Christmas lights off it now!

otherwise I don't think our village has faired too badly. they will have opened the Humber bridge now. Only the 4th time in its 40yrs that it has been totally shut.

Nothing much around me, neighbour lost a fence panel and some flats in town lost the roof but generaly nothing serious

Sorry about the damage. Odd as it seems we have had worse wind and rain on days when there was no storm warning.

What a beautiful mimosa that is! Looks as though it has stood up to the violence very well.
Commiserations to those who have sustained damage. I wonder if anyone will return your sheet Debs...
No damage to our property but lots of trees and power cables down. There were some great photos of fantastic waves too, and the road alongside one beach is unpassable and under water.

I live in the USA. Is this storm of such high wind velocities the usual thing for this time of year or is it a more recent and frequent occurrence?

20 Feb, 2022

its worse than we normally get but to add to the problems we had another storm a few days earlier.

20 Feb, 2022

As with some modern hurricanes, it is not the frequency or the time of year per se, but the increased strength of the winds which is different. Having said that it is rare to get storms like that in February in Europe.

And now we have another named storm on the way. Franklin.

It's nice to hear back from some of you to hear how you are xx.
We have still been suffering with windy weather & my poor Mimosa is more to the right & lower to the ground as earlier the wind really got up & we had torrential rain with it as well so really battered it down ;o(( , when its calmer out there I will take a look at it & see if I can stand it back up again :o)) xx

Its still wild and woolley on the Lincs/Rutland border but at least the rain has stopped, I'm counting my blessings as so many suffering far more than us...

I have lost 7 fence panels! In sunny Sussex! Who'd have thought it!

That's an awful lot of fencing to lose Pf. Have you managed to salvage any of it? I was very fortunate here in Surrey,
only a broken plant pot, easily replaced, & the plant is ok.
Rain today & all the Crocii looking soggy.
