hi, can anyone help. I am growing purple broccili in my raised veg plot. I have about 6 plants they are approx 3ft tall. I have them covered in a framwork by netting then fleece. I check them every week when I spend ages picking catapillars off them before recovering. Some leaves are like net curtains. I am wondering how they get in,what am I doing wrong. Although the plants are growing tall and there is evidence of a middle formation in the plants, will it be worth it in the end or will the pests destroy them before then. please help.

It is possible the butterflies laid their eggs prior to your covering. I'd persist with as home grown broccoli tastes so much better than shop bought.

Try going out at night with a flashlight to pick worms--you'll get more of the little munchers then.

Hi Moon grower and Tuqbrethil thanks very much for your answers I will take both your advice.

Because some of the leaves are like net curtains I wondered if this may effect the plant, but I will continue and hopefully get some lovely broccoli as well as the experiance.

thanks again
