I've grown this Banana from seed this season and thought I'd purchased Ensete Maurelii Red Abysinnian Banana seeds but it's not looking like one. It's grown quite large (3 ft+) and is still very much not red, having bought them before they were usually dark red by the time they got a couple of feet tall. Anyone got any ideas what variety it could be? the leaf is a bit wider than my Musa Basjoo and have a dark reddish rim but the undersides and stems are green.
Planning to overwinter inside as I'm guessing it's probably not that hardy?

Thanks Thorneyside and kind of you to say so, I like to have a go at usual things each year and a heated propagator usually works wonders to germinate tropicals, but not everything survives. This plant was the only one of 30 seeds of 3 different banana varieties I tried that grew on. Hoping I can keep it but would be good to know what it is! :)

Sorry Phil, I don't have an answer to your question. Just wanted to say "how clever are you then". I've grown allsorts from seed but never a banana. Well done you.
