Do you mean while they're dormant? I keep mine dry until it's time to start them back into growth again, then water sparingly....I add feed once they've got going, and keep the watering up while they've still got leaves.

Welcome to GOY....I've just looked at your profile "about me" and noted you are living in St. Helena...apparently a place that doesn't exist! lol I believe it is a beautiful island and it would be great if you get around to doing a blog with photos so we can all drool over your subtropical island.

Good advice re your amaryllis....I have one too but it didn't produce much bloom this year (had 3 blooms last year) and I think I may have watered it when it was dormant. I'll leave it alone now and hope it flourishes next year.
