Could you please tell me why my Cordyline which is planted in a large container keeps going yellow? It is usually green. Is is usual for after going yellow the spikes go brown?

I would say that your Cordyline is becoming stressed in a container and needs to be planted in the gound. As it's in a container the nutrients are quickly washed away. Your plant desperately wants to be a sizeable tree. Having said, many Cordylines are looking shabby due to the very cold winter.
