I would love to know the name of this grass, about 18" high, more green than red. (I know it's not Imperata, Japanese blood grass, because I have plenty of them!).

Sheila, that's purely because I have been browsing at photos of ornamental grasses for my own garden! It looks to be a very attractive grass.

We did have some rain yesterday, but the soil in the beds is still rock hard!
