Morning folks. Viburnum plicatum mariesii f tomentosum. I've been given this shrub and was planning on planting it in my back border. However, I read it can grow into a substantial shrub and was wondering whether it can be pruned to stay a manageable size? Does anyone have this shrub in their garden and if so does it grow large, up to 4 metres in height? Am off to The Derwen garden centre and The Dingle nr Welshpool and will have to contain myself as it's my favourite place to immerse myself in plant retail therapy!! Ha, Ha.....

We had this gorgeous shrub in our last garden. It does grow into a substantial size, and any pruning would be likely to spoil its iconic shape where the layered branches grow horizontally. It needs plenty of space so an island bed would be ideal.

The one thing we never do is to add up the amount of money we have spent at The Dingle over the years. We had this in our previous place and it does get big and it is not easy to prune and keep the correct shape.

I will probably keep it aside and sell at the Garden trail in June. Thanks for your advice.
