Can someone help me please. Enclosed is a picture of what I believe to be a cactus. This has been a wonderful plant flowering twice yearly without any problem. Last week I found half of it had collapsed for no apparent reason, I found many stems simply broken off, laying on the table. At the moment I am unable to upload a picture of the damage, but in the meantime is it possible I may have accidentally over-watered or under watered? Can someone also advise the best way to propagate please.
Thank you for any help.
Thanks for your help with this.

I agree it is probably over watering.
propagation is easy I find.
Each segment will root in slightly damp compost. Use segments without flowers or remove the flower first. the narrow end will go in the compost. Hope that makes sense.

Thank you both very much. I expect it will take a long time to reach maturity if only small segments can be used to propagate. however there is still half of the plant left which seems OK at the moment, so at least I will have the pleasure of it coming into flower this Spring albeit somewhat reduced in size. Was I correct in my assumption that it was a cactus? Does it have a name?

Schlumbergera.
Over watering is a possibility. They are tree top epiphytes, so only need water when the soil is dry.
