Ceanothus.
I want to buy my daughter one of these for her small Yorkshire garden. There are so many to choose from. Can anyone recommend one that will thrive that far north, will not grow too large, and flowers well? Thank you.

If you can provide some protections from cold winds then I would recommend Ceanothus 'Burkwoodii'. This variety should fit the bill.

I had 'Edinburgh' in my east Yorks garden for years and never got taller than 6ft. It was a good strong mid/dark blue. The severe winter of 2011/12 killed it but we did have days of -17C.

Thank you both for these replies. That narrows things down! I will look them up.
