Salvia Amistad. I bought 6 plants for the first time this year and they are gorgeous. However I know very little about them They are in pots. Will they go through the winter outdoors? Should I put them in the ground? Also, my window cleaner managed to decapitate almost a whole plant and I put the top flower in a vase and stripped off the side branches and put them in water.
To my surprise and delight the side branches have grown roots and I would like to know how best to care for them and hopefully bring them on for next year please?

As Eileen says, they are not hardy, so bring them indoors or into a greenhouse to overwinter. They are very easy to grow from cuttings, which you can take any time ... and you have already made one! (You can also strip the lower leaves from 4" stems and push them into small pots of potting compost.)

they are not hardy for me so I take cuttings and keep them on the dry side in an unheated greenhouse in the most sheltered area: as long as it is frost free. They would be fine in a cool conservatory too.
