This appeared in my front garden, so I potted it up until I know what it is. The leaf stems are red. Anyone any ideas?

I have loads of these as they grow were they fall. I'm forever pulling them up.
One of them I have kept, as I trim the roots once a year and I am growing as a Bonsai.

Looks like a Red maple seedling (Acer rubrum). These native trees self-sow frequently as do those huge weeds, Norway maples. Often, seedlings can be seen growing out of people's (uncleaned) gutters.

Sycamore - Acer pseudoplatanus. They self-seed a great deal.

Oh dear Poppy these do appear in gardens regularly as they are sycamore seedlings.Wouldn t waste a lot of time on it as youll soon be pulling far more of them out of your garden. If youd like to see what happens when a garden left for these to develop in I ll post you a pic.
