Holly - Do I need a male plant?

Hi everyone! As anyone aho read my blog knows I recently purchased a female holly! In my ignorance I didn't know what that meant but a neighbour says I need a male one too? My plant has little buds forming already.

buds will form but if you dont have a male it is unlikely they will develope into berries
