A eucalyptus tree was planted about 15ft from our house by a landscape gardener - now another gardener says it is way too close and should come out. Who is right?

It depends on the species, Nigel, and how it is pruned. Some of the larger ones shouldn't be anywhere within 40 feet of a house or wall. The smaller species, and the ones cut back regularly to keep their distinctive juvenile foliage, can go as close as 6 feet.
