hi any tips on growing bamboo from seeds many thanks

Hi Susie,

So long as the seed is fresh it's extremely easy, and they germinate much like any other grass.

I sow into pure perlite to ensure drainage and good root development, but a soil based seed compost will do the trick too.

At this time of the year the seed, once sown, would be best kept indoors, say on a windowsill, at a reasonably constant temperature, and covered with polythene etc. to maintain humidity.

Germination in generally quick, although this depends on the species and how fresh the seed is.
