They like moist soil in a sunny position, But they will take dryer soil in dappled shade if need be.

Never fed ours either. Did you know the flowers are edible as are the young shoots?

I have them growing in full sun and partial shade, different soil in different parts of the garden and all seem to do well. Have never fed them and I only ever purchased 1 plant about 10 years ago, brought a cutting from my old house and have since given plenty to friends family and neighbours.

Only trouble we have with them is Hemerocallis gall mite which ruins the flowers of the early ones and sadly has no cure. We have removed all the flowers of the worst afflicted the last few years to see it it cures the problem by breaking the breeding cycle. If they are infected this year then sadly those plants will have to be destroyed.

yes I get it on Bonanza which is an early one. a real pain isnt it. I am going to transplant it elsewhere and see if I can fool the gall midges.
